Nite Lights had their monthly meeting tonight at the Haskell Township Library. This group of beautiful women enjoyed great food, while learning about the NEW SubletteKansas.com website. Their positive energy was contagious throughout the room as they brainstormed about ways to enrich our community!
The pioneers had dreamed and hoped that some day a railroad would come through Haskell County. They knew the county could not progress unless they had a railroad. For many years there had been rumors that one would be built, and their dreams came true when an official announcement from the Santa Fe Railroad was made in October, 1911, but the route lay 7 miles south of Santa Fe, the present location of Sublette.
The city of Sublette gained two new councilmen in May, 2013 with the election of Tommy Stoppel and Dylan Shotton. These two men are replacing long-term Councilman, Gary Hessman, and Gerald Stoppel. The new Councilmen will join Leon Birney, James Barber, and Lawrence Hoerman to complete the five-member Council.
